Frequently Asked Questions
Waxing
Never been waxed before how long should the hair be?
Hair should be a long as a grain of rice, if its at least an inch its perfect!
Can I receive a Brazilian if pregnant?
Many clients who have waxed with me have done so up to the week prior to delivering. However each person & pregnancy is different in terms of pain tolerance.
How painful is it?
Pain tolerance is different for each person, but you can expect to have a short, stinging sensation after each strip is pulled. However I do recommend taking an ibuprofen or aspirin 30 mins prior to appointment . The more often you wax the thinner your hair becomes which lessens pain tolerance
Can I shave in-between waxing?
No, this can cause one to result with more ingrowns & irritation on skin. Going back and forth with waxing and shaving will also interfere with the hair growth & make waxing more painful as well.
How often should I wax?
Depending on the area being waxed & how fast you hair cycle is on that area ( depends on season, medication, hormonal changes and medical conditions). Body Waxing is recommended to come in every 4-6 weeks, for Facial Waxing is recommended to come in every 3-4 weeks.
What could prevent me from getting waxing?
Certain medications or products that should not be taken or used if planning to get waxed are Retin-A, Renova, and Hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications and topical/oral cortisone make skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Check with your doctor is you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using medication.
Facials
What is a facial?
A facial is a relaxing experience designed to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. A facial provides defense against the effects of aging by treating damaged and dull skin.
The facial will open your pores, tighten your skin, and replace lost nutrients. The facial starts with a cleansing and exfoliation to remove toxins and debris from the skin. The facial also consists of a mask treatment to nourish the skin, and a massage can be added to leave you relaxed and rejuvenated while helping with circulation. The result is more hydrated and healthy skin that has a glow.
What is a hydrafacial?
A HydraFacial is a treatment that uses a handheld Vortex-Fusion device to deliver dermabrasion, hydration, exfoliation, and cleansing of the skin. The device penetrates the skin with beneficial serums to remove skin damage.
The treatment is a non-surgical and powerful way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles associated with aging. Those with oily skin or enlarged pores can greatly benefit from HydraFacial. Uneven texture, dull skin tones, and minor laxity can also be addressed with treatment.
What is a dermaplane treatment?
A dermaplane is a facial treatment for removing dry and dull skin as well as small hairs, sometimes called peach fuzz. The treatment is conducted with a surgical scalpel. The scalpel scrapes the outermost layer of skin to remove damaged skin and tiny hairs that make your skin look dull. The dermaplane treatment is powerful on its own and can allow other treatments to better absorb into the skin, increasing their effectiveness. It is recommended to do it once a month, it takes about 21 days for our skin to shed the outer layer.
How often should I get facials?
How often you get a facial is based on your skin type and the cycle of your skin. When your skin regrows after the facial, it will eventually look dull, so ideally you should have a facial before the skin reaches that point.
For most people, one facial per month or every four - five weeks should provide continuously healthy skin. Having a facial treatment once per month will remove damaged skin cells as they appear so your skin will always have a healthy and youthful look.
What are the benefits of a facial?
Including a regular facial treatment in your skincare routine can have a variety of benefits. The facial is a relaxing and luxurious experience that can help you find relief from stress and your busy life.
A facial helps reduce visible signs of aging like wrinkles, leaving you with a youthful glow. The facial cleanses and hydrates your skin, reducing acne and blemishes. A facial also removes toxins from your skin, making it more healthy. The facial treatment involves a massage that can help stimulate blood flow in the face, giving your face rejuvenating oxygen.
The exfoliation provided by the facial helps to remove damaged skin and balance out uneven tone and remove dullness. The facial provides nourishing vitamins and minerals and can help your body naturally produce collagen to give your skin a tight and firm texture.
How long does a facial take?
A traditional facial treatment takes 80 minutes to complete. There is no downtime after the treatment, so you can complete the treatment when you have time and get right back to your day. Other treatments take even less time, like the 15-minute acne facial or the 30-minute HydraFacial.
Treatments can take longer if they are combined. A combined treatment can provide better results if you have time for them. A quick dermaplaning session can be combined with a traditional facial, for example, for a treatment time of just over one hour and much better results than either of the treatments on their own.
Can facials be customized?
We can customize a facial to address certain skin issues you may be facing. Facials are good for all skin types and can be adapted to your needs. We can change the ingredients used in the facial to benefit your specific skin type.
If you have acne, an acne facial can remove toxins and bacteria that cause acne while increasing the skin’s hydration. We also have a facial made specifically for men called the Men’s Facial which addresses unique skin issues more common in men.
